I took this along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. You can walk for a long time along the water here.

I hope you all had a most awesome holiday weekend, the weather in Michigan couldn’t have been more perfect!

Here’s the same spot where I took the picture of the dragonfly. This is the Little Point Sable Lighthouse in Whitehall. Whoops, thanks to help from one of my visitors, I’m correcting this, it’s actually the White River Lighthouse. I also took pictures of the Little Point Sable Lighthouse and will be posting them soon.

This is the view from across the water, which is a little harder to get to but worth it. The view is better and it’s not as busy. Here’s a google map link so you can see it from my perspective in Medbery Park

The Grand River flows through Grand Rapids. Usually you’ll see photos looking down on the river from the bridges and air. I wanted to show you something different. Downtown, along the river, there is this wonderful boardwalk that goes for quite a distance, I love to walk along the river here. This bridge is the huge walkway that leads to the Gerald R. Ford Museum.

This cute little guy was rollerblading with his friends along the boardwalk in Manistee when they saw me taking pictures, stopped and politely watched me shoot away. So of course I had to chat and get to know them. Kenny offered to let me take his picture while he was skating. Thanks Kenny and thanks to your mom too for giving me permission to use this photo.

Running through the center of town in Manistee is a beautiful river with boat slips and a boardwalk. This was taken under one of the bridges. I’ll be adding google links to all of the Manistee locations next week. And… Grand Rapids, Ada, and Lowell photos are coming soon.

As I was walking along the Pier in Grand Haven, Michigan (click for Google map directions to the boardwalk in Grand Haven, MI) I saw this little boy looking out over the water. It made me think of when my own sons were this age and the treasured memories I have of taking them the beach at Grand Haven. How many people that were there that night will remember it forever? I will, what a beautiful place, you can walk all the way down the pier to the lighthouse at the end.

If you’ve never been to Grand Haven, well, what can I say, you’re missing out. There’s a really long paved dock along the shoreline to walk along that ends at a lighthouse, way out on the water. Along the way there’s all kinds of boats passing by. This picture barely captures this enchanted moment. I was standing on the dock watching as this sailboat full of happy people who had probably spent the day on Lake Michigan, breezed by listening to reggea music and dancing.
