Today was the most spectacularly perfect fall day I’ve ever experienced. Fall in Michigan is always beautiful, but today was warm and sunny with beautiful clouds drifting by. I took this at the Leslie E. Tassell Park in Cascade. I’ve got more pictures for you coming up later this week. Here’s a google link to the park.
Circle Theatre in Grand Rapids is a great venue to see local plays in an intimate environment. I heard about it years ago from Kim and Steve Allie who were donating their time to help the theatre with its marketing when it was at John Ball Park. During that time it grew in size to the point where it needed a newer and larger home. Here it is at its new location on the Aquinas College campus.
I heard about Hemlock Park in Big Rapids from my friend Norma who has fond memories of going there to art fairs with her mother Lucille French. Today’s blog is dedicated to Lucille.
John A. Collins Park at Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids is a perfect place to go on a lazy, warm day. Everyone was catching the rays, hoping this wouldn’t be the last weekend summer day we get in 07.
Because of the construction in downtown Grand Rapids, you can see things from a different perspective than before. I’ve always been curious about the history behind this old church on the hill next to the Van Andel Institute. I took this standing in the middle of what would normally be a busy, busy road, but is currently completely torn up by construction.
There’s just something about horse farms that amazes me. I love the fences and grass and magnificence of the horses. I see a lot of horse farms around here, this one always makes me stop and stare.

You know that path I told you about yesterday? Well this is what the parking lot dead ends into. I took this shot of the Thornapple River from the dock that the Forest Hills crew teams take off from.
As if you couldn’t tell by the photos, I really love the Frederik Meijer Gardens. I took this photo behind the amphitheater. The amphitheater is the best open air venue I’ve ever been to, it hosts summer concerts that are probably one of the best kept secrets in west Michigan.
Scary dad swan? Read the post below, you’ll understand.
I took this picture in Whitehall with my friend Lisa. The swans were off in the distance but Lisa managed to score some bread from someone on a docked boat and bribed the swans over to us. The funny thing is that once they were right up to where we were she kept warning me, “I didn’t know they would get this close! Don’t let the dad get too close! I mean it Ann, he’s getting awful close, see how he’s looking at you. Oh! I’m not kidding you, watch it!!!” Apparently Lisa was attacked by a goose a while back and it was not a good experience for her due to the 7 foot wingspan and bruises it inflicted.
Aren’t they pretty though?
