Circle Theatre in Grand Rapids is a great venue to see local plays in an intimate environment. I heard about it years ago from Kim and Steve Allie who were donating their time to help the theatre with its marketing when it was at John Ball Park. During that time it grew in size to the point where it needed a newer and larger home. Here it is at its new location on the Aquinas College campus.
I got up early to visit the WTRV (The River 100.5 FM) morning show with my client from Allie Design, Dean Weber D.D.S. (of the Aesthetic Dental Center.) Dr. Weber was a guest on the show. The sky was so beautiful on the way back to work that I took this while I was driving.
I really appreciate the folks over at WTRV, Chuck LaTour and Andy Rent talk about Michigan Sweet Spot every Friday around 7:40 AM.
Here’s another picture I took at the Artisan’s Market in Grand Rapids. Please scroll down the page to see the other picture I took of the Artisan’s Market, it has a Google map link and more details in case if you’d like to check it out.
Because of the construction in downtown Grand Rapids, you can see things from a different perspective than before. I’ve always been curious about the history behind this old church on the hill next to the Van Andel Institute. I took this standing in the middle of what would normally be a busy, busy road, but is currently completely torn up by construction.
Every Sunday from 11AM-3PM, through October, there’s an artisan’s market on Fulton Street in Grand Rapids. It’s where the Farmer’s market is during other days. I love the laid back atmosphere, community spirit and incredibly good prices. Here’s someone having henna art painted on his arm. In case you’re wondering, the kid in the background is fine, he’s just goofing around. I’ve got more photos of the artisan’s market that I’ll be showing later this week. Here’s a google link to help get you there.
I took this along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. You can walk for a long time along the water here.
I hope you all had a most awesome holiday weekend, the weather in Michigan couldn’t have been more perfect!
Here’s another shot of the new Grand Rapids skyline at night. I took this on top of a metal staircase, leading up to a construction trailer that was on top of a roof. Did I mention that I am afraid of heights?
The new JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids has made the night sky even more interesting. You can see it in this shot, it has a blue light illuminating the center. I love the way downtown Grand Rapids looks at night with all the lighted bridges, and water. Oh and by the way, thanks go out to my little buddy Bradly for suggesting a different location for the shot!
I happened upon this tree house while visiting the Frederik Meijer Gardens. I don’t know Fred and Lena Meijer, but would have to guess they must love children based on the thoughtful detail that has gone into making the Meijer Gardens a special place for kids too.
I’ll tell you where, right into the beautiful Blandford Nature Center (please see previous post for google map link and more information.) The whole nature center is filled with lush, peaceful woods.
