I love the new Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM). It’s big, modern and full of provoking, inspirational art. There’s much more about the museum online at their website, I hope you’ll check it out.
Christmas in Michigan, it’s a beautiful place to be. I took this in downtown Grand Rapids near the new art museum and bbbrrrrrrrrrr was it ever cold!
This cute little rooster was strutting around Lubbers farm like he was king of the hill. Attitude is everything.
I took this shot at the Lubbers farm on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids on Luce Street. They are members of a group of local West Michigan farmers who have joined together to promote a sustainable local food system. The group is called the Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council, click here for a link to their site to find out more about this great organization.
Okay, I don’t really know if that’s this calf’s name but it sure is sweet and cute. I’ve loved cows ever since I was a little girl living in Washington State. We had a cow pasture next to our house and every chance I got I’d go visit my favorite cow “Buttercup” and feed her the yellow flowers that grew in the field.
Many people are learning about the benefits of pasture fed, unprocessed full fat milk. It’s hard to get though and the Lubbers Family Farm is one of the places this is available in Michigan. In order to get the milk, folks buy shares in the jersey dairy cows on their farm and pick up their milk weekly. I took this picture in the pasture of their farm. I’ll tell you a little more about this later in the week when I post more pics, in the meantime, if you’re curious to learn more, you can find out more about the farm online at www.LubbersFarm.com.
I haven’t seen many sheep farms here in Michigan so had to take this shot when I was traveling in northern Michigan on my fall color hunt. It’s beautiful here but wow were the cars ever ripping by me when I was setting up the shot.
Those of us lucky enough to call metro Grand Rapids home have discovered this is a great place to raise children. The city is big enough to feature national acts like Hannah Montana (on December 6 at the Van Andel Arena), yet still offer some of the world’s finest beaches, lush farmland, and abundant state parks with woods and wildlife.
I took this photo on 100th street, it’s across the street from the place I posted earlier this week. Check back soon for tips on how to use the photos on my blog as wallpaper for your computer.
I’ve been noticing a LOT of people are finding my BLOG by searching for barns. Therefore I’ll be adding more barns for ya’ll in my next few posts.
