Another day of "crash clouds" (can't keep your eyes on the road).

There were beautiful, amazing clouds all day long and then this sweet sunset. Sometimes when the sky is like this, I just have to really FOCUS and quit looking at the sky when I’m driving.

For those of you interested in HDR photography, or meeting me, I’ll be lecturing about HDR photography at the Spring Lake Library on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 7:00 PM. The library is located at 123 East Exchange Street,
Spring Lake, MI 49456-2018. The lecture is free.  I’ll be talking about what HDR photography is, how it’s done and give photography tips.

Here’s a link to my Take Five appearance on WZZM in Grand Rapids, Michigan where I talk about HDR photography and give tips: Video Link

Ice Skating at Rosa Parks Circle
It’s February and Michigan, which makes it the perfect time to go ice skating. Tonight I went to Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids (Happy Birthday Noah!) and what a blast it was. Yep, it was cold but the music that was piped in over the loud speakers and the fun of watching all the people made me totally forget the cold.

The cost is just $1 for admission and don’t worry if you don’t own ice skates, with an I.D., you can borrow some for free! Hours of operation are Monday – Thursday, 6:00-9:30pm; Fridays 6:00 – 10:00PM ; Saturdays noon – 10:00 pm and Sundays 2:00 – 9:30 pm. Here’s a google map link to help get you there.

Grand Rapids at Night
I hope you all have a most excellent holiday season! I’m eagerly anticipating taking lots of pictures for my blog over the next week during time off from my job, hopefully the weather will cooperate. I took ths photo earlier in downtown Grand Rapids.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has visited MichiganSweetSpot, especially those who have shared it with their friends and made comments. I truly appreciate your interest and read every single comment.

The new JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids has made the night sky even more interesting. You can see it in this shot, it has a blue light illuminating the center. I love the way downtown Grand Rapids looks at night with all the lighted bridges, and water. Oh and by the way, thanks go out to my little buddy Bradly for suggesting a different location for the shot!
