Everyone at the Rothbury Music Festival was looking forward to this concert with Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead and they didn’t disappoint.
Just one more of the details that made Rothbury fun were these guys walking around on stilts.
The police force at Rothbury was actually a pleasant addition to the festival and added to the unique atmosphere. They were on horseback, friendly and great at interacting with the crowd. It was interesting because they definitely kept things in line but were not threatening at all.
I’ve got more shots of Rothbury coming up this week including pics of the Phil Lesh and Friends concert. Also here’s link to another Rothbury blogger who posted some videos of Rothbury.
As you may have heard by now, Sherwood Forest was just amazing at night. Here’s another of the paths that ran through the forest which was equally impressive. I took this a little earlier when it was dusky and the lights just went on.
Taj Mahal showed his stuff at Rothbury this weekend and made a huge fan out of me. Here’s a link with more information.
Trey Anastasio of Phish fame is finally back on stage. After I took this shot, Mike Gordon joined him. Trey seemed very touched by the warmth of the appreciative crowd who were elated to see him performing again. Here’s a link to Trey’s website.
John Mayer is even better in concert than he is in the recording studio. He gave a great performance at Rothbury… and yes, Jennifer Aniston was there to cheer him on.
One of the things that made a big difference about Rothbury was the attention they paid to the location of the event. The Double JJ Ranch is a great wooded location to start with and then they went the extra mile by adding lots of improvised sculptures like this one to add to the atmosphere.
Here’s the crowd at Snoop Dog’s concert at Rothbury, I don’t know how many people were here, but it was a lot. I can’t say enough good things about Rothbury, even though there is a big crowd, they are managing it very, very well. I’ll be posting lots more photos of Rothbury but it’s late so nighty night I’ll show you some more tomorrow. If you are thinking of going there, it’s not too late there’s plenty more going on Saturday and Sunday. Here’s a link to the Rothbury website.
