Every year I go to the Glen Arbor area in northern Michigan around this time to drop off work to Syncronicity. I took this last year when I was up north. As you’re driving along and this barn comes into view, it’s simple magnificence really makes an impression.

A classic, you say, but just like a castle. The big one with its little baby in front of the majestic door, here is a real impressive country pic !

American barns have always fascinated me. What a happy surprise to stumble upon your marvelous images of barns in my native state of Michigan.
I salute you for the time, creativity and energy that it takes to make photographs like yours (having spent more than twenty years with National Geographic, I’ve know a lot of photographers and looked more than a few photographs.)
As do many who appreciate the classic American barn, I fear that these grand structures may not long endure. In their time, they were solidly built to survive everything except changing attitudes and a lack of support for our national heritage.
Keep up your good work. I wish you every success.
And thank you, again, for your marvelous images.

Thanks for the comment John, it’s an honor coming from a National Geographic writer.
