Lyn Savidge of ARS, Advanced Radiology Services, is foremost on my mind when I think of people who help make Michigan special. Lyn Savidge has been instrumental in the growth of Advanced Radiology Services, which was recently named by a national trade publication as one of the largest radiology groups in the United States.

Advanced Radiology Services’ 100+ physicians play a crucial role in the health of a large portion of Michigan. Radiologists are medical doctors that read imaging tests. Their interpretations help other physicians set the course for treatment. Interventional radiologists perform life-changing procedures, including uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), which eliminates the need for hysterectomy in many women; and vertebroplasty, which provides nonsurgical pain relief from spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis.

Because they’re in the background, radiologists are the unsung heroes of health care. Many people don’t realize they’re medical doctors with additional specialty training. So, next time you have a mammogram, or diagnostic test that requires medical imaging, remember that radiologist watching out for you.
